Welcome to the Great Lakes Series (GLS!)
The GLS was started in 2008 with the players in mind as it was a BYOP series. The GLS was designed for the tournament player
as we all love to go to other fields and play, but the cost to enter other events was not worth going to. This is why the GLS
has gone and made it worth traveling to, yet having a great time is also considered into the day.
The GLS is a series that will test everyone's skill level no matter who you are, as this series draws some pretty good teams
and players alike. The GLS started out as a BYOP series, but since other fields haven't followed the path it only seems fair to
not let them make money by selling paint to teams to bring to a GLS event. This may sound harsh but why let other stores/fields
make all the money when a series and the hosting fields are trying to help the players by allowing them to BYOP, but in return
the other fields won't do the same.
The GLS will still be sticking with the best ball out there for the money ! Kee has manufactured the GLS paint the last 2 years
and we don’t have any complaints with it and the fill is super thick and bright which makes for easy reffing and less paint consumption
by the teams. The 2010 teams averaged less than 4 cases per event with 90% using less than 3 so that makes this a very affordable series !
Great Lakes Series (GLS) - Ranking System
The GLS is also the first series to have it's own ranking system setup to keep players on a level playing field for the most part.
This system will not happen overnight, but it won't take but 3 or 4 events to show everyone how well it is going to work as 95% of the players
only play locals and there is no way of really keeping track of them without a system like this.
The GLS will have some new venues for 2011 with roughly the same amount of events but possibly a few more.
The GLS will have two 3-man divisions in 2011 with prizes for the lower division and cash for the upper ! The rankings system has been modified to 4 levels of players, rookie, novice, amatuer and elite along with a state by state ranking.
GLS - Paintball Field Layout
The GLS will no longer have a layout posted before any event as the hosting field will put up a mirrored layout of there choice and everyone will see it when they arrive !
This will help even things out for the players that don't have the benifit of access to a new field. This should also help the fields out as they won't need to buy new bunkers
to complete an old field. Hope everyone enjoys the new changes for 2011 !
